Has anyone tried the US Shipping sites like borderlinx.com ?
They offer a US shipping address and will reship the Phone to UAE for a small charge

According to my calculations, If all goes well, I could get hands on a Nexus 4 for AED 1450/-.
However, am also worried whether the money will vanish into thin air.

Yes there are customs that you need to pay. If you use Aramex Shop and Ship then they would charge you about 110-150 dhs. Aramex would pay it themselves and then collect the same from you. I got my Nexus 4 and aside from opening the box and setting up my google account, I haven’t used it at all. Not even installed an app. I am liking my Lumia 920 so if you want to buy an almost brand new Nexus 4 16GB then let me know. I can let it go for 1700 AED.
