Marketing is a powerful tool and Samsung has proven that time and again. It’s Galaxy brand is so strong, many fail to distinguish between it and the Android operating system. And this is an area that HTC strongly lacks. Even despite making some great smartphones in recent years, which of course includes the fantastic HTC One series, HTC has failed to grab the eyeballs like how Samsung does.

This could soon change however, as The Verge reports that HTC has hired Samsung’s former Chief Marketing Officer, Paul Golden. As his LinkedIn profile reads, Golden “created and launched the highly successful Galaxy brand for Samsung”, and saw it gain a “4x increase in market share (from 4.5% to 21.0%) in the strategically critical smartphone segment.”

Golden has been hired as a consultant to Chairwoman Cher Wang, and it remains to be seen he will able to bring his golden touch (excuse the pun) to the Taiwanese company.
