iOS 11 update gets new feature
iPhone fingerprint sensor to make emergency calls
Apple Devs will now respond to your App Store reviews
Rumors of the iPhone 8 coming with 3D scanning or AR capabilities have been the talk of the town recently. The latest rumor however, talks about how Apple might be integrating 3D lasers to the rear of the camera.
According to Fast Company, the iPhone 8 will use a vertical cavity surface emitting laser system, as evidence mounts that Apple has procured VCSEL components from various sources. This system would improve the iPhone camera’s autofocus capabilities and depth perception for better augmented reality experiences.
Apple has been working on improving its AR experiences in its devices, with Tim Cook preferring AR over VR. At WWDC 2017, Apple also revealed its interest in AR. ARKit is set to come on iOS 11 this year, which will also give developers a change to create AR apps for iPhones and iPad.
We dont know for sure if VCSEL will make it to the iPhone 8. If the company has to do it, the engineers will have work quickly. We have to wait till September to find out more about the iPhone 8.
