Apple TV to receive stealth processor upgrade

An Apple spokesperson confirmed to The Next Web that its current line of Apple TVs will receive a processor upgrade, but will not be marketed as a new product.

Uncovered in an FCC filings yesterday, the updated Apple TV will use Apple's A5X processor used in the third-generation iPad, and an upgraded Broadcom BCM4334 wireless chip. Apple says despite the spec beef-up, product features will not be affected.

“We sometimes make component changes which require an updated model number for regulatory approval,” an Apple spokesperson told TNW. “The component changes we made don’t affect product features and Apple TV customers will continue to have the same great user experience.”

Apple TV is available across UAE stores for AED 369.
