Caterpillar brings their ruggedness to the B15

Caterpillar, most famous for the heavy weight industrial vehicles used all over the world, also have a diverse portfolio of products and services that, to some extent, represent the tough superiority of their machinery. The CAT boots is one famous example, and following in the same vein we now get the B15 smartphone.

The CAT B15 is an IP67 certified phone, which means that it can withstand being submerged in up to 1m of water for 30 minutes. Following that the anodized aluminum and shock-proof rubber body can also work perfectly fine is dropped from a height of up to 1.8 meters. Being dustproof is also part of that certification process.

On the specs side the CAT B15 isn't a powerhouse as it's powered by a dual-core 1GHz processor, 512MB RAM and 4GB built-in sotrage (expandable by microSD) and a 5MP rear camera. The screen is a reasonable 4-inch LCD display sporting a 480 x 800 resolution, measuring 125 x 69.5 x 14.95mm and weighing 170g. It does, however, come with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean so you get smooth performance of Google's (almost) latest OS out of the box.

Ultimately the CAT B15 isn't designed to give you the fastest possible experience, but one that lasts under harsh conditions without breaking a sweat. In other words, ideal for the outdoor UAE environment. Available from next month onwards according to GSMarena, the CAT B15 will be sold for €329 (AED 1,600).
