Lenovo CEO Would be Open to Buying BlackBerry

In an interview with financial paper Les Echos, Lenovo CEO Yang Yuanqing hinted that the company would be open to acquiring handset manufacturer BlackBerry.

Lenovo has had a long history of precise acquisitions, and the question was poised to Yuanqing whether or not the company would be interested in entering the smartphone market by acquiring a company such as BlackBerry. Yuanqing responded by commenting that growth is all about investing in the right opportunities, and that a deal with BlackBerry would make sense, but that he would first have to analyze the market and understand what BlackBerry's contribution to the company would be.

BlackBerry has been in full force since the start of this year with the launch of BlackBerry 10 and its first handset, the Z10, however many analysts are still waiting to see if the company can bounce back after being overshadowed by the likes of Apple and Android. While BlackBerry 10 is a bold new direction for the company, it still needs a fair amount of work to become as intuitive as other mobile operating systems.
