Libratone Launches Android App
I recently reviewed the Libratone Zipp, and while it was certainly a funky and impressive speaker, it was sadly only iOS compatable. As if on cue, Libratone today announced the availability of an Android app for their devices, which includes all of the features included in the iOS versions. It's certainly a smart move for Libratone, and greatly opens up their devices to a much broader range of smartphones, tablets, and other Android devices. The app is now available for free download from the Google Play store.

The free app, which expands Libratone’s app catalogue beyond just iOS, moves sound control to the palm of the hand with features including:

· Customization of a specific speaker’s name for easy recognition
· Volume control through the mobile device via an AUX connection, which also has a lock setting to prevent curious kids from adjusting the volume unnecessarily
Unique and unprecedented FullRoom Optimization, which lets users enhance and customize the Libratone FullRoom experience – a 360-degree sound experience produced by a single sound source.
By feeding the app information on the placement of your sound system, it automatically adjusts the sound to fit your room. Voicing functionality offers a variety of different voicings to adapt the sound of the speaker to the type of music played. For example, hip-hop often demands a booming bass quality, which gets a party started, while opera benefits from absolute vocal clarity, from a low range to a high range, that can be appreciated on a quiet Sunday afternoon. Using the Libratone Android app lets consumers customize their sound to meet the needs of the music and the occasion.
The free Libratone Android app works with version 2.3.3 and newer and can be downloaded from Google Play from February 27th 2013.
