NVIDIA Announces PhysX for PlayStation 4

NVIDIA may be bummed out that none of the next-gen consoles are running on its chip, but it isn't too much to not make some of its proprietary technology available on them. The company has announced support for PhysX and APEX on the PlayStation 4 and has rolled out new SDKs for developers to start building their games immediately.

PhysX and APEX provide dynamic physics to games, making them more realistic in animation, destruction and movement. If you played Borderlands 2 or Batman: Arkham City on your NVIDA card, you probably have already experienced the PhysX technology.

As you can see from the above trailer, PhysX is actually pretty cool and not a whole lot tasking on your graphics card. As next-gen takes steps towards photo-realistic graphics, animation and environmental interactivity will be paramount features that will bring those photo-realistic visuals to life. Also, hey, AMD made pretty hair too, so there!
