YouTube hits one billion monthly users
We're all guilty of it - those moments when we don't quite feel like working and we quietly fire up a web browser and direct it to YouTube. Or maybe we sneak out our phones and watch someone falling down a flight of stairs (ouch). Or we listen to Taylor Swift serenading a goat.
But all of those views add up, and today YouTube wrote in a blog post that it's now amassed a billion unique visitors each month.
The figure is nothing to joke at - according to the post, if YouTube was a country it would be the third largest in the world after China and India - that's a lot of Nyan Cat.
The company is barely eight years old, but has seen a surge of digital content being uploaded to it over the years. From music videos to indie films to live broadcasts, YouTube has become the platform of choice for millions (and now billions) of people around the world. Now go and re-watch Gangam Style...you know you want to.
