Packaging

The packaging for the RX9700 was not ready at the time of the review and thus our card came in a plain box with a CDRW for drivers- however, all the cables were included. Inside the retail box, you’ll find an S-Video cable, an RCA cable, an S-Video to RCA converter and a DVI to VGA converter. Creative did send us a picture of the box shot which is included in the gallery below.

Installation was plain and simple- we used the ASUS P4S8X motherboard based on the SiS 648 chipset as it supports AGP 8X which this card is capable of. Once the card was in the AGP slot, the BOIS automatically enabled the 8X option. The Radeon PRO needs a little extra power and Creative bundles a power pass-thru cable that can be connected to any one of your PSU 4-pin connector (the one that powers your hard drives and Optical drives). The drivers included in the CD were by ATI with the version 7.75 which is what we’ve used for benchmarking.

Lets look at some of the features for this card next.
