AMD's Athlon 64 processor is the new kid on the block and while AMD is having some trouble producing them in huge volumes, motherboard manufacturers have already stepped up to offer solutions for these new processors. Today, we have a total of seven different motherboards based on the VIA K8T800 core-logic chipset. With motherboards more advanced than ever, one can no longer go by the old rule that anything onboard should be disabled and replaced by more competent expansion cards. More over, overclocking has now become somewhat of a must have rather than a luxury as all these motherboards have varying degrees of overclocking functionality.

While the feature list is continually advancing on motherboards, we are happy to note that prices have remained more or less constant and this is definitely good considering that top end CPUs and graphics cards today can cost more than complete PCs of lower specifications. As a result of this, we decided the ultimate winner of this roundup would have to be a motherboard that offers a proper mix of performance, features and price.
