| OCZ's Platinum Series Product line is for enthusiasts seeking high Performance with Low Voltage's and today, we're looking at the EL DDR PC-4000 2x1024MB Dual Channel Platinum XTC ( OCZP5002GXTC-K ).
This new OCZ EL PC-4000 1024MB Platinum Edition utilizes the latest heatspreader design that OCZ labels XTC (Xtreme Thermal Convection.) These heatspreaders allow increased ventilation and heat dissipation due to an innovative honeycomb design providing more direct access to the actual memory ICs.
These OCZ EL PC-4000 Platinum are Equiped with Micron -5 F Chipsets that will allow the Ram to Reach 250FSB+ with low voltages- just like its older siblings TCCD Chipsets. At PC4000 (DDR500), these 1GB modules turn out an impressive 3-3-3-8 timings at 2.6V with flawless performance and stability
As you can see from the shot below, we have most of the usual applications in the screenshot above that completed successfully without any hiccups. As you can see, the modules are running at 2.6V meaning any rookie user should be able to run it with any standard Motherboard that is limited with Voltage options without any problems.
Next, we decided to test the max speed these modules are capable of using OCZ's exclusive EVP (Extended Voltage Protection) coverage. The OCZ EVP program allows performance enthusiasts to use a VDIMM at 3.0V ± 5% without invalidating their OCZ Lifetime Warranty.
As you can see we maxed these modules out at 265MHz FSb (DDR530) using 2.9V at 3-3-3-8. The modules proved to be rock stable at this speed & voltage in SuperPI and SiSoftware Sandra Benchmarks. We tried upping the voltage to 3.0V but we hit the cieling at 265MHz FSB. Overall, the OCZ EL PC4000 memory kit with the XTC memory heatspreaders will allow you to reach high FSB's with low Voltages in almost any motherboard. Its worthwhile for users to upgrade from 1GB kits to 2GB kits with high performance and stability.
