Thermaltake is well known for building high-quality chassis that can hold up many HDD’s, along with design that allows near-silent operation of components inside. Today we’re looking at one of their latest chassis, SopranoFx, aimed at enthusiasts and gamers looking for huge chassis with plenty of easy-to-use features inside.

Features
  • Piano black finish
  • Brushed aluminum front door
  • e-SATA connector built-in
  • Support up to eleven 5.25” drive bays
  • Ventilation openings on top (62% opening ratio)
  • High efficiency ventilation: 120mm silent fans at front and rear, 90mm fans on top and back

Chassis Exterior

Thermaltake’s SopranoFx packaging is certainly on a heavy side due to the fact that chassis itself is made of steel. If you’re planning on keeping it on your desk, you should be aware of fact that its weights over 16kg (~35.3lb). SopranoFx gives you chance to look inside the chassis trough three separated windows installed into left side of the chassis.

After opening the front door of the chassis, you’ll have 11 (yes, eleven) 5.25” drive bays at your disposal! Every single one has dust filter in order to prevent the dust from entering inside the chassis. Top of the chassis features another opening for improving the air ventilation, along with hidden panel providing easy access for input and output. The front door of the chassis has black brushed aluminum design, while the rest of the chassis has black coating finish. Another great feature is storage draw, located on the bottom of the chassis that allows you storing almost anything inside the chassis itself.

On the rear side of the chassis, you can see openings for two additional fans provided by Thermaltake. It is also interesting to note that company has decided to use vertical position for the power supply unit, while most of other manufacturers use horizontal position for installing the PSU. On the bottom of the chassis, there are four retractable legs with rubber feet in order to hold the chassis on the ground and cancel the vibration noise.

Interior

When it comes to chassis, one of the most important features is ability to install all of your add-ons inside the chassis. Thermaltake made sure to offer you enough space, so installing anything from micro-ATX to full-ATX server motherboard shouldn’t be a problem. On the bottom of the chassis we found a box containing the 90mm fan and its bracket, some mounting screws, 4x round plastic for inline and outline of the chassis for the water cooling kit.

The back side of the chassis has Thermaltake 120 mm fan that is rated to run at 1300 RPM with 17dBA. Fan itself changes to blue color when you turn your computer on while giving some nice and stylish look inside the chassis. Using easy black clips, chassis offers tool-free installations for VGA or PCI cards. On the inside-top of the chassis there is a removable HDD cage that can handle up to 3 HDD’s which are cooled by a TT 90mm fan, rated to run at 1800 RPM while producing only 17dBA. Cage itself can be used as the host for a nice RAID5 setup.

Next to the HDD cage you can see the honey comb ventilation that leads the hot air outside the chassis, and you can install the 90mm fan with bracket to increase the speed of the air flow inside the chassis.

Conclusion

Thermaltake SopranoFx is simply an amazing chassis for anyone thinking about installing water cooling setup. It also provides a great removable HDD cage with 120mm fan keeping your drives cool and quiet during daily use. Thermaltake SopranoFx chassis is available for around AED 1100 which makes it a little expensive for a chassis to buy, but if you’re looking for one the best chassis on the market, we recommend SopranoFx.
