Its that time of the year again- when the tech industry lands into the country that has provided us with such big names as ASUS, Gigabyte and nVidia. Yes sir, Computes 2008 is here but before we get into it, let me say that I'm not really happy about the way its arranged this time around.

You see, previously there were 3 halls as well as TWTC and TICC that were within walking distance of each other. This year however, a new exhibition center is built which is a good 20 minutes away by car. This sould've been fine if the entire Computex was relocated to new larger exhibition center however, its now split between the old and the new halls so arranging meetings has suddenly become a lot more inconvenient. There is also no MRT station close to the new exhibition center and thus, taking a cab or a shuttle during peak hours can result in a 40 minute gap. I certainly hope that something is done about this by next year.

Now that we're done with the bitching, we'll start with a virtual walk-through of the show and let pictures be your guide us so you can see wht I saw and found interesting during the show. I'll have a light commentary at the same time so you have an idea of what you're looking at. I started out at the MSI booth located in Nangin (the new exhibition center).

MSI's Wind PC has certainly been attracting a lot of attention and thats what you see above along with a Wind Motherboard which is not identical to the one used in the Wind Sub-notebook but tailored towards smaller form factor desktops. Both the Wind and the Motherboard have almost identical specs which include a 1.6GHz HyperThreading cable Intel Atom CPU.

The next thing that grabbed our attention was the huge iiquid Nitrogen Tank providing a cool -120 degrees to the Intel Core 2 setup running at over 5GHz. Sniper was trying to figure out a way of stealing the tank from the MSI booth and importing it back to the UAE for his setup.

Custom CPU and VGA blocks were used for the liquid cooled PC.

Also on display were lots of upcoming notebooks from MSI powered by Centrino 2 which Intel has slightly delayed to be launched next month now. Some were focused on gaming as well.

MSI was also showing lots of their new new Motherboards with the focus on the P45 and G45 chipsets. We have already received the review sample for the Diamond Edition and will have it online for you next week.
