Although its always nice to occupy the Best Performance slot, AMD knows very well that the mainstream sector is what sells a lot more. They surprised everyone with their 3850 card last year which performed decently for a mainstream product. Today, they’re shaking the foundation one more time with the launch of the mid-ranged 4850 graphics card. For the first time, we have a medium-range card that competes very well with the competition’s high-end product.

Specifications

GPU core name    RV770
Fabrication Process    55nm
Memory Size    512MB GDDR3
core clock    625
memory clock    993
shader clock    none
Stream Processors    800
Texture Filtrate    24 Billion/sec

We received the 4850 from three different manufacturers and all of them have the same specifications as mentioned above. Thus there was no point in benching all of them in all tests as they performed identical in the couple of tests we ran across all three. Their packaging was a bit different though, so lets start with that.
