EA’s new city builder, Sim City, will be available for Mac users on August 29. This comes after numerous delays, where EA said the Mac version wasn’t “ready for prime time yet” and that they wanted ensure a smooth launch.
Users who bought the Windows version will receive the Mac version for free. Users can simply download the game from Origin or the MacGameStore. The game will be sold separately for $50 a pop.
Sim City launched in March to a shaky start, with serious server issues, countless bugs, and poor management. The game also came under-fire for requiring an always-online connection, which it still does to date. Since launch, however, EA and developer Maxis has issued six major patches that have somewhat ironed out many of the issues users where facing before.
Despite the problems, Sim City is a fantastic game (when it works) and have enjoyed critical acclaim and fan appreciation. The game has sold more than 1.6m copies so far.
