If you’re using a Windows 8.1 PC or tablet, chances are Windows Update have already alerted you to the newest Windows 8.1 update which Microsoft have started rolling out in the past few hours. The new update tweaks some of the features of Windows 8.1, adding subtle changes that should benefit the user, especially the ones using a mouse and a keyboard.

Here are some of the changes included with the update:

  • Power and search buttons are now permanently displayed on the Start screen.
  • Open and pinned apps now appear on the taskbar.
  • Boot straight to the desktop.
  • Minimise and close buttons now appear on full screen Metro apps.
  • More options on how you should customise a tile by right-clicking it.
